A Message from MindArk Regarding Coronavirus

MindArk is following all Swedish government recommendations and is closely watching how the situation develops. We will take any steps we can to ensure the wellbeing of our employees while at the same time ensuring the availability of Entropia Universe.

Ever since the outbreak was confirmed in Sweden, we have taken precautionary actions to minimize the risk that our employees become exposed, both for the sake of their wellbeing and to ensure that we can continue delivering Entropia Universe during this situation. One of those precautionary measures we have put in place is to encourage any employee that can do their work from home to do so. The vast majority of our employees have been working remotely since then. MindArk has a well developed infrastructure in place that makes this possible without jeopardizing our ability to develop, maintain and deliver Entropia Universe. The ability to remotely perform all important tasks relating to the availability of Entropia Universe is just part of the nature of providing a live service that is for the most part available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If it is expected that the COVID-19 outbreak will affect the availability of Entropia Universe, this will be communicated to the user base.

No government mandated shutdown is in place in Sweden at the time of writing, nor are we aware of any such plans.

Thank you all for your concern.

I know it has been a while since I’ve last been able to engage with you here. Although I believe we’ve done a lot of good with Entropia Universe in the last year, one area I still strive to improve significantly is the continuous communication between us, MindArk, and the Entropia Universe community. To this end, we have recently hired a dedicated full-time community manager, who will not just engage with the community here on the forum and on other platforms, but will work to maintain continuous communication between developers and the community in new and creative ways. She will introduce herself to you all shortly.

Be safe and take care.

MindArk CEO

Robot Spring Offensive

Robot invaders on Calypso are amassing their forces for yet another spring offensive! All colonists are advised to stay vigilant. The robots are primarily targeting the settlements at Camp Phoenix, Cape Corinth, Chugs Hideout, Fort Ithaca, Fort Pandora, Fort Troy, Minopolis and the robot main base at Hadesheim.

The Calypso Research and Defense Institute (RDI) has observed increased activity in the robot subterranean base matrix network. Surveillance has also picked up increased communication between the robot dropships hovering over several locations on the Eudoria continent.

Initial reports suggest that the robots with the lowest threat level are targeting the area around Camp Icarus. The Cape Corinth area is being targeted by mid-level robots, while the most heavily armed robots seem to be focused on the other targeted locations detailed above.

Colonists are advised to take precautions in regard to both their armor and weapon selections. Forming teams will also allow for effective engagements against the heavier robot forces.

Ancient Greece shares information

When will shares be available?

3/10/2020 12:00 UTC

Where are the shares being sold from?
David Post's Next Island LLC

How long will shares be available without resale to other Entropians?
6 months

Why has Next Island not provided income for Ancient Greece with the release to justify investment?
Ancient Greece is a speculative investment, based on the potential of the region and the development that has preceded it.

We are not selling at X% revenue share, we are selling a share in what could be so much more. Next Island aims to grow the Entropia Platform from it’s position as planet partners were intended.

Those that support the sale of Ancient Greece understand that existent profit of shares is not a requirement, and instead are willing to stake their claim on something that has more potential and will ultimately garner a larger return on investment due to their faith in the potential of an environment they wish to see succeed.

Who is offering the Ancient Greece asset for sale?
David Post, the owner and visionary mind behind Next Island and Ancient Greece.

When will Ancient Greece shares be available for sale to the general public?
The planned date of release is March 10th, estimated access to Ancient Greece shares is anticipated at 12:00 UTC of the release date.

Update:
1. As the Gorgon Armor seems to be the central item of interest which will bring people from across the universe, it would make sense to provide more information about how these armors can be obtained. The stats are genuinely awesome but

a. Will they be tradeable?
Yes the armors will be tradeble at every stage

c. Drop rate of components I am pretty sure you cannot tell us but how about relatively rarity of getting the various sets.

It will become increasingly difficult to obtain a higher set of armor, however since this is the first time we have experience with this type of armor creation type it's hard to speculate right now how rare it will be.

3. ROI?
ROI cannot be applied in good faith as Ancient Greece has been completely rebuilt with regard to primary revenue driving activities including hunting, mining and crafting. Assessment of potential should be based on investors looking into the activities and assets that have been released in the 3/10 VU, and the revenue potential of those assets and activities.

4. Is the area going to be taxed?
No taxed area

5. Is there a scope for NI to be moved closer to Calypso?
It hasn't been discussed to my knowledge whether NI might be moved closer to Calypso or not (if that is possible). About moving Calypso to the center, that is something to ask MindArk.

6. Lastly, but most importantly what is the timeline?
Timeline for implementation, aside from the plot system everything else is live right now.

Next Island is proud to announce the redevelopment of Ancient Greece and the upcoming offering of Ancient Greece shares via the Entropia Universe Exchange.

Planet Arkadia - Release Notes 17.1.0

New Smuggler event on Arkadia Moon & Arkadia Underground
The smugglers have taken an interest in the PTECH building on the Arkadia moon. Due to this information, PTECH have implemented new security measures to prevent them from breaking into their establishment. These measures are in the form of security terminals scattered across their building. Now rumor has it, the smugglers have devised a new hacking technology for these terminals but investigation is still taking place as to who is the leak in the company.

Information has been passed that the smugglers have also moved from their location at the Abyss in the Underground to a new location in the Underground. Their location is still unknown.

If you have any information regarding this new hacking technology, please advice the IFN officials.

Developer Notes
After a lot of thinking and rework, we have redesigned these events so that they are no longer activated by an official but rather any player in the universe. The player will have to follow a series of missions enabling the activation of the event and spawning of smugglers. There is a new progress bar implemented to view how far the event has run.

Also take note, if someone else activates the event, any player will be able to join at any time and continue progress from where they left off. The event will not end if you leave the areas but stay spawned till the event is run or completed by another player.

New Content - On Hold (Developer Note)
New content has been put on hold due to us reworking all mission. This is needed as we are converting all mission to the new codex layout. We cannot add new content such as missions yet as we are separating all the old iron missions from the story line and going to break the missions into the following categories.

1. Codex Missions

2. Story Line missions

3. Side Quest Missions

4. Faction Missions

5. Event Missions

This will enable us to deliver higher quality content for all players in the future. We want to make sure that everything runs smoothly and your experience is one to remember. If you have any feedback, we would love to hear it.

Planet Cyrene 2020 Map Update

Hey guys,

https://gfycat.com/slightfavorableamericancrow

I wanted to fill everyone in on the upcoming map update for Planet Cyrene.

As I mentioned over in this thread >>LINK<<, there were going to be some changes coming, both laying the ground work and letting us fix some errors with the models/terrain.

For starters, you many notice there's more land area than before, which we plan to utilize for player benefit. There is now a dedicated mining area for Universe Ores and Enmatters, for example. The majority of areas have been increased, allowing for more play space and lets the Imperium or A.R.C. forces try to establish bases, or perhaps be overrun by some new kind of threat on Planet Cyrene.

In the southwest corner we've started to lay the ground work for New Janus: which will become the estate capitol on Cyrene. Once it's finished, when players enter the planet they will arrive in New Janus. However, as the workers were sort of terraforming and surveying, they seemed to be a bit shaken by some of the findings, but it's probably nothing.

For the 1st VU of 2020, we wanted to put the foundation for things that are coming this year: an updated n00b area, New Janus Estate area, Improved mining areas, and bringing back the dynamic area.

With this map update, we've also briefed all the current NPCs on Cyrene, so they will now give out the correct coordinates to players on missions. If you find out any of them are slacking off make sure to report it to me so they can be reprimanded severely.

Please feel free to post any comments/questions/concerns in this thread about the map.

Cheers,

Kris

Planet Cyrene March 3rd 2020 VU Notes

New Additions

- Map overhaul

-- While these changes haven't been drastic, they have been sweeping.

-- Several new islands have popped up and almost each individual land mass has been expanded upon.

-- We, of course, welcome any and all feedback about this map overhaul and encourage you to post it on our forums.

-- There are two new TPs to discover!

- New and Improved Wave Spawner @ Ice Plateau
-- The structure for the wave spawner has been changed in order to better keep the mobs inside of it.

-- The mobs in the wave spawner harkens back to a different time and will culminate into a "full circle".

- New Mining Area
-- In the northern part of the map a new landmass is available with bridges connecting the islands. These islands hold ONLY universal ore and enmatter, and should be the best to mine them on Cyrene.

- New Janus Foundation
-- While it is currently a bit sparse, the foremen and crew are hard at work getting ready to bring New Janus to life.

-- You can poke around and check on their progress, make sure everything is going smoothly.

- New Creature Spawn Area
-- In the Robot Base Z.R.Q. area, the Imperium have been hard at work establishing a new base of operations high in the mountains.

-- Almost every creature spawn was looked at and adjusted for the VU (as part of the map overhaul).

Information

- Planet Cyrene does not yet have access to the Codex yet to add Cyrene mobs, this will happen later this year, more updates to come as we have them. That being said we plan to give Cyrene players ample time to know when the Codex will be implemented as well as the information that not all missions will be automatically added into the codex.

Changes

- Updated all NPCs with waypoints to give the correct waypoints (note: in some cases this may require waiting for an objective update).

- Replaced some tree and other vegetation models that need improvements/optimization.

- Implemented several player found bug fixes.

- Cleaned up misplaced models.

- Adjusted loot drops across several creatures.

Known Issues
- The Hub Arenas and Proving Grounds are currently not accepting entry tokens nor are they awarding tokens for kills. We are waiting for MindArk to fix this issue.

- We are currently waiting for information on several drops: Empty ESI, Imperium Officer XT, and a few others.

- The culmination for the chain mission for the Ryvox the Cypher is currently not implemented.

- Support weapons are not currently working properly, this is a platform issue.

- All Cyrene vehicles (P.I.G.V., Spear, Lancer, Dragonfly) have default sounds, this will be addressed in a future patch.

- Some Quality Ratings information in blueprint book: A.R.C. is incorrect, and this issue is still being looked into.

- A supplementary mission for Rank 5 of Brown Beetles to give proper mission rewards is not working correctly and will be fixed in a future VU.

Please give RNGesus some time to ensure all items reach their intended recipients and MindArk time to make sure that all missions are activated.

P.S. I know these patch notes are up early but I'm not able to put them up later so better early than late

edit: codex should be this year, edited the post

Omegaton to Purchase Vast Quantities of Components

Omegaton, the Federal Empire's official logistics company, will be placing auction orders for large quantities of components in an effort to supply colonies experiencing acute technology shortages.

However, Genesis Star CEO Maximilian Wolfe says the initiative is anything but generous, claiming the import-dependent colonies are being forced into a monopoly arrangement.

"No other importer can get near those planets," said Wolfe. "The Imperial Navy's got them surrounded. Only Omegan freighters are allowed in."

The accusations were flatly denied by Tiberius Calderon, the Consul appointed by Omegaton to facilitate the initiative on Calypso.

"The Genois will say anything to discredit their competitors. It's pathetic," said Calderon.

Consul Tiberius Calderon will place auction orders for the following industrial components starting Feb. 28, 2020:

Simple 4 Conductors - 12000 PED

Simple 3 Conductors - 60000 PED

Simple 2 Conductors - 160000 PED

Simple 3 Plastic Springs - 90000 PED

Simple 2 Plastic Springs - 112000 PED

Simple 3 Plastic Ruds - 17000 PED

Simple 2 Plastic Ruds - 110000 PED

Hardened Metal Ruds - 30000 PED

Basic Filters - 50000 PED

Basic Sensor - 22000 PED

Basic Structure - 45000 PED

Standard Matrix - 50000 PED

Standard Plate - 25000 PED

High Performance Engine - 15000 PED

Electropositive Processor - 10000 PED

Reinforced Bearings - 10000 PED

Heavy Duty Core - 10000 PED

Omegaton is offering the following additional incentives to spur the procurement effort:

For each component listed above, 100 PED will be awarded to the colonist who makes the largest contribution to fulfilling Calderon’s orders for that particular component.

1000 PED will be awarded to the colonist who contributes the most total Trade Terminal value, of any combination of components listed above, to fulfilling Calderon’s auction orders.

Omegaton will place orders until the total Trade Terminal values listed above have been successfully purchased. Note that all of the orders listed above may not be active on the auction at the same time. Some components may be purchased using multiple orders; however there will still be only one 100 PED reward per component. A single colonist can qualify for multiple rewards.

Any intentional disruption or manipulation of the auction order process will be investigated.
