Ancient Greece shares information

When will shares be available?

3/10/2020 12:00 UTC

Where are the shares being sold from?
David Post's Next Island LLC

How long will shares be available without resale to other Entropians?
6 months

Why has Next Island not provided income for Ancient Greece with the release to justify investment?
Ancient Greece is a speculative investment, based on the potential of the region and the development that has preceded it.

We are not selling at X% revenue share, we are selling a share in what could be so much more. Next Island aims to grow the Entropia Platform from it’s position as planet partners were intended.

Those that support the sale of Ancient Greece understand that existent profit of shares is not a requirement, and instead are willing to stake their claim on something that has more potential and will ultimately garner a larger return on investment due to their faith in the potential of an environment they wish to see succeed.

Who is offering the Ancient Greece asset for sale?
David Post, the owner and visionary mind behind Next Island and Ancient Greece.

When will Ancient Greece shares be available for sale to the general public?
The planned date of release is March 10th, estimated access to Ancient Greece shares is anticipated at 12:00 UTC of the release date.

Update:
1. As the Gorgon Armor seems to be the central item of interest which will bring people from across the universe, it would make sense to provide more information about how these armors can be obtained. The stats are genuinely awesome but

a. Will they be tradeable?
Yes the armors will be tradeble at every stage

c. Drop rate of components I am pretty sure you cannot tell us but how about relatively rarity of getting the various sets.

It will become increasingly difficult to obtain a higher set of armor, however since this is the first time we have experience with this type of armor creation type it's hard to speculate right now how rare it will be.

3. ROI?
ROI cannot be applied in good faith as Ancient Greece has been completely rebuilt with regard to primary revenue driving activities including hunting, mining and crafting. Assessment of potential should be based on investors looking into the activities and assets that have been released in the 3/10 VU, and the revenue potential of those assets and activities.

4. Is the area going to be taxed?
No taxed area

5. Is there a scope for NI to be moved closer to Calypso?
It hasn't been discussed to my knowledge whether NI might be moved closer to Calypso or not (if that is possible). About moving Calypso to the center, that is something to ask MindArk.

6. Lastly, but most importantly what is the timeline?
Timeline for implementation, aside from the plot system everything else is live right now.

Ancient Greece Shares

Next Island is proud to announce the redevelopment of Ancient Greece and the upcoming offering of Ancient Greece shares via the Entropia Universe Exchange.

As the current Entropian population may have noticed, Next Island has been evolving more consistently over the past 18 months to be a valued planet within Entropia Universe, including a recent increase in new and rewarding content. Entire staff of Next Island was fired

Meg from Next Island staff posted on 16 of July on her personal blog that entire stuff of Next Island was let go:

"Wednesday the entire staff of Next Island was let go. Although I knew we weren’t being called to this urgent company meeting so we could pet kittens and eat cupcakes, it is still terribly sad to leave a project I’ve been on for almost two years now, and leave so many narratives unfinished in the gameworld. I’ve been so involved in Next Island for so long, leaving so abruptly is almost like getting dumped.

I came in Thursday to finish a dialogue, originally for August, er, October, and now for personal satisfaction. It was originally constraining to write missions and lines for stationery NPCs, but it’s taught me how effective one line of dialogue can be.

Thursday night found me in the office, clearing out my desk around the time I’m usually calling Harold and telling him that perhaps he shouldn’t wait for me to have dinner. The night janitor came by and saw the state of my desk.

“Moving out?” he asked.
I nodded.
He asked if I got a new job, and I had to say no.
He asked if I got a promotion, and I had to say no.
He asked if I lost my job, and I had to say yes.
“But you? You are always working. You are always here at night,” he said, “How did you lose your job?”

That one line of dialogue can really be effective, I thought, and I picked up my box of island maps, Hello Kitty desk toys, Screamland copies, and XYZZY coffee mug, and walked to the elevator to go home."

What a heartbreaking story! BUT. Is this really a bad thing or actually a good change? Everyone knows Next Island was doing worst from all the planets. It started bad with all the NEVERDIE names all over the planet. I personally traveled to all other planets except NI. I play most on Calypso, I was on Rocktropia and Arkadia few times, one time on Cyrene and will go back after they start the real launch. But I have never been to Next Island and never wanted to.

At forums I see post from other planets about new missions and mobs and from next Island usually the news is "WORK IN PROGRESS" and I don't even care what is it. The crafting sucks monkey balls and speaking of monkey balls, every where you go there are monkeys on the planet. Like the planet of the apes.

Their site is even flagged by Google:
"Diagnostic page for nextisland dot com
Site is listed as suspicious - visiting this web site may harm your computer.
Part of this site was listed for suspicious activity 2 time(s) over the past 90 days."

Now the question is what is going to happen to Next Island. Will it just get new stuff and make things better? Will the planet be sold to someone else who knows what to do with it? Or will it go to MindArk hands?

And how this is going to impact Entropia Universe?

UPDATE:

Bjorn|MindArk, MindArk Official:

"I'd like to reassure everyone that Planet Next Island will not be shutting down.
MindArk is in constant contact with the developers of Next Island, and we are monitoring the situation closely.
More detailed information about Next Island's plans for continued development will be provided as it becomes available."

Next Island Ingame Economics

Next Island
Starting point
What I have experienced is that Next Island actually attracts new players, the sad thing is that NI will threaten most of them to never ever come back to Entropia Universe again after their first hours of try. There is not enough missions for new people to be “hooked”. Most of the people comes with the thought of being able to earn money, but there is not a functioning ingame market yet, read more under “People”, so even if they is patient sweaters and happy explorers they will find it hard to get any income. And before becoming a depositor I think it’s wise to be a sweater for a while to learn how the game works. (just my own opinion). I think the starter missions is OK as basic tutorials but they are to few. I think one person could do most of the missions in a couple of hours, then they get to the Tank mission where they actually need to become hunters, and this is hard with the only help of an half broken noob club. If they could get a better weapon, or have more exploring type of missions added I think it would make people stay a bit longer. And the longer they stay the higher is the games “stickiness”. They have the chance to meet cool people (not just me  though I don't see me as partuclar cool ), visit places, make friends etc.
People
Not enough players to sustain a healthy ingame market. Where is the supply and demand of Next Island? I’ve personally have done some mining and have put out some basic materials in the auction to help provide in the supply end of the chain. But without buyers it’s not going to work for me in a long term perspective. I could just stay on NI and become a NI miner who sells on the NI market but if there is no one buying my goods I soon would have to journey to old Calypso.
Auction
IMO MA have the wrong approach with auction. If I’m at NI I’m not so interested in items and resources from other planets, what I’m looking for is something from the planet I’m on. IMO the auction should by default filter out other planets but if you like you should be able to look at the global market. The same with markup graphs, I’m not that interested in what lyst costs on Calypso since the demand can be much higher there.
Loot
I kind of like all the new stuff I see all the time in loot, even though I have no idea what the future use of it will be. The problem is that it’s huge (as it is in RockTropia). To be able to use the looted items BP’s is needed to drop asap. I have crafted on NI, but only common TT food just to use up some of my looted resources. I would love to actually craft something planet specific. Now as you read in the “people” section the ingame market is too small to actually sell stuff so right now all loot is placed in growing piles in storage. I have already lots of PED locked in my Calypso and RT storage, I don’t feel the need to lock even more in a new planet storage. I would like to use the stuff instead. I don’t see the point in giving us loot that we can’t use in other ways than building castles in the air.
Geography
It feels like teleporters where thrown out in a random pattern and then they threw a couple of revivals out in an even more random way. What is the point in having one revive point for one half of the continent when in the S/W area you have two revive points close to TPs with running distance in between? The lack of revive points and turrets is a big fail in playability for most of the players and especially for new players. I kind of miss the original Project Entropia outposts in the middle of nowhere, no TP, but a revive and a turret. The thing that I really like is that NI reminds of old PE Calypso where exploring was one of the fun parts. I found some cool places like the black pyramid with blue writing but I am confused why there is no information about it and why it together with time travel places doesn’t show on your map.
Mobs
There is not enough diversity in mobs IMO and the spawns seams to have been applied with randomness or profit for a certain LA owner. Why are the skeletons, drakes and sharks only present in the S/E corner of the map? I think I stumbled on a drake outside that area but for the good spawns I haven’t found anything outside that particular area. Also this spawns of skeletons, drakes and sharks makes it hard for new players to compete in the struggle to gather resources for time travel crystals. I find it hard to kill the mobs needed cause of the dense spawns, I can only imagine how fast a new depositor with almost no skills and his new shining armour and a big gun would feel, especially when he/she when killed ends up at a revive on the other side of the map and then when using the TP to get back crashes. I’m a very patient guy but it was really annoying even for me.
Events
I haven’t found any events on NI yet. I know there is LA’s. The lack of events on NI is clearly shown in all the atempts to have events outside the event system, such as treasure hunts. Events would be yet another benefit for new players and add to the gameplay that the founder so proudly described on the screened NI information discussed in FPCforum:And the advertising begins  CNN? Goodmorning America? :-o
Web
On NI website they announces for news that is for other planet partners. For example you can read about the new feature Forts, Events and Amathera bug fixes. They don’t belong in the news section of NI.
Forum
It really annoys me that I had to register on yet another forum to be able to post this.
Conclusion
More starter/tutorial missions
BP’s asap!
Active work from both developers and players to get a self sustained NI market
Revives and turrets at all TP’s, maybe less TP’s and instead an outpost or two.
