The Calypso Advisors 2015

CDF Announcement

To help ensure the safety of arriving colonists on Calypso the CDF recently have appointed six Calypso Advisors.

The Calypso Advisors will guide newcomers and assist whenever help is needed. Occasionally the Advisors will also arrange newcomer events in areas like Camp Icarus and Halfmoon Bay where many newcomers start their journey on Planet Calypso.

The Calypso Advisors Mallard, Oak, Hemlock, Hazel, Saguaro and Rowan seen in their vintage outfits.


CDF Colonel Briers explained the reasoning behind the appointments. “The Advisors main role is to give guidance for newcomers to survive out in the many harsh wildernesses of Calypso. Additionally the Advisors should also work to tighten the relation between Calypso veterans and Calypso's future veterans and to strengthen the overall community spirit to better withstand future challenges.”

Colonists are advised to join the planet specific #calypsoadviser channel where they can get assistance from the Advisors and also help other Calypsians out by sharing their experiences and findings.

Please note that the Advisors are not MindArk employees and that they won't be able to assist with issues that are handled by Entropia Support. The Calypso Advisers are primarily online on weekends.

To celebrate the new pets and taming features introduced in Version Update 15.2, tamers will enjoy accelerated pet experience gains for their tamed creatures this weekend. Experience is gained when pets are instructed to perform tricks, helping to unlock pet passive buffs.

3 new pets on Planet Calypso

I was just preparing myself to go to planet Cyrene to train my Arret pet when planet Calypso introduced 3 new pets that look very cool, so I had to fly there, buy them and train them at least to level 7, so I can use them on every planet. Eudorian Devil is probably my new favorite pet. But lets see how he behaves first.

Compet Website up and running

Finally you will be able to play the Entropia Universe(EU) on different platforms.

The new Competition Pet (ComPet) system will provide features of Entropia Universe, including creature clashes, and bring them together in an exciting smartphone, tablet and web browser application.


Smartphone, tablet and browser users will be able to compete with one another by selecting one of the many pets available in the ComPet application. There are various maturity and price levels available to fit players of all types, including a free-to-play version. Once a pet has been selected the user will choose a number of “buffs” and “add-ons” that can both personalize the pet and enhance its combat prowess. Next, users carefully prepare a unique battle plan; this is a set of special instructions for the pet on how to engage its rival. Once the user is satisfied with the pet configuration, the pet can be entered into the ComPet Arena or enlisted for defense duty at the user’s home base. In any battle, trainers can win real cash prizes. If players play for free they can win special pet upgrades and points; if played for PED (Project Entropia Dollars), they can win more PED, which can be exchanged for real cash.


Additionally, any player can be part of this revenue opportunity and earn PED when smartphone, tablet and web browser users play the new Entropia Universe ComPet App. Before launch, 200,000 ComPet Deeds, priced at 100 PED (10 USD) each, will be made available through the webshop and in the Entropia Universe auction. Deeds can be acquired by anyone with an Entropia Universe account, even those who may not have installed the full Entropia Universe PC client software. They can alternatively purchase deeds through the Virtual Tycoon Android mobile app and start earning revenue from ComPet activity, which is scheduled for launch in Q1 2015.


Deed holders will receive 30% of the gross ComPet revenue. In addition, the ComPet affiliate program will enable users to recruit their friends and earn a 15% share of their recruited users’ activity. The remaining 70% (or 55% in the case of an affiliate-referred user) of revenue will go toward marketing, operation and support for the ComPet App. In conjunction with MindArk’s accountants, Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), the ComPet App accounts will be available for inspection and published on the Entropia Universe website.

Reporter Dee: Thank you Director! Can you confirm that the Scott & Barlow cargo ship 602 has been fired upon and forced to make a controlled crash landing?

DB: Yes, we can confirm that. At this point we don’t know who or why the 602 has been fired upon. We don’t know how many survived the landing. We are calling in the IFN reserve to go up to the area and scout for survivors and secure the site.

RD: You have already answered the question “Who?” and “Why?” but would it be too farfetched to assume that the Smugglers are behind the attack?

DB: We don’t like to speculate about it, but we will find out in time who is responsible for this. The perpetrator behind this hideous act endangered the whole planet. We are just lucky that the 602 was not put in such bad condition that it couldn’t land in a controlled way. Mrs. Narang, you are next.

RD : Can you advise what has happened to the contents of the ship?

DB : We believe the contents of the ship have been scattered across the planet.

Reporter Narang: Thank you, Sir! One of my sources, who also witnessed the attack in space, has informed me that the missile seemed to come, and I quote; “out of nowhere”. What is your comment on that ?

DB: I have no comment on that at this point.

The following are changes that come with Planet Arkadia Update 2014.4. This information is provided, to the extent that the IFN and ACA are at liberty to discuss at this time. Log in today and check things out for yourself, to discover how the changes affect you!

New Content

Breaking News

A Scott & Barlow cargo ship has been shot down whilst entering Arkadia's atmosphere. IFN are investigating, sources close to the IFN are suggesting this can only be the work of the Smugglers. During it's entry the ship broke up before crashing into a mountanside in the arctic region. As a result, a substantial shipment of weaponry intended for the community of Arkadia has been lost. The ships manifest shows several different weapon models on board including Laser Weapons, BLP weapons, Longblades and Shortblades. IFN officials are requesting colonists to inspect the wreckage and to salvage anything they can find before the Smugglers get their hands on them.

It is also believed they had a large sample of Piron attachments.

Stables on Arkadia now have a temporary stable building, so you will clearly see where the stable is located.

Pandi pet has its own model now, and to keep the Nusuls happy we decided to give them the same upgrade.


The Smugglers are attempting to seize control of the high ground in the arctic zone, colonists are requested by the IFN to engage the Smugglers and prevent them from occupying the area. A reminder - A toxic shot is required to enter the area.

Sounds have once again returned to Planet Arkadia. As part of a high priority project for 2015 the first major upgrade to Arkadia's soundscape has been implemented. Environmental, creature and weapons sounds have been added. Further sound upgrades will be made with each update this year.

Feran have started to breed faster resulting in their younger maturities appearing in increased numbers. This could be why there seem to be a smaller population of other low level creatures in certain areas as Feran are known to hunt them on occasion.

Locations

Event Area 2 has been relocated close to Courageous Firebase Academy.
At Event Area 3 ACA scientists have observed a Tiarak assault on the Riptor that used to inhabit the area. Riptor have been displaced, now only Tiarak of various maturity left.
IFN HQ Teleporter in Celeste Harbour is once again connected to the network so you can teleport directly to the HQ if needed.

The IFN want to warn all their personal that the Oratan Prospectors have now expanded out from their previous locations so we expect that you will act accordingly.

Scoria has had a graphical upgrade and therefor the Scoria Leather Texture is upgraded as well.

Known Issues
- Support weapons are not currently working properly, this is a platform issue.
- The Spear MK. III is difficult to maneuver, this is being looked into.
- The Spear destroyed model becomes invisible, this issue is being looked into.
- All Cyrene vehicles (P.I.G.V., Spear, Lancer, Dragonfly) have default sounds, this will be addressed in a future patch.
- Some Quality Ratings information in blueprint book: A.R.C. is incorrect, and this issue is still being looked into.
- Many of the new weapons released have too much ammo burn and will be corrected in the Mini Patch.

Coming in the Mini Patch
- Topography Changes to many of the high mountains at Mer Beach, Ngu Volcano, and Robot Base Z.R.Q.
- A n00b Mini-Chain to create a Refurbished S.I. Heart (avatar bound).
- Improved summoning for Lazidol and the Empis Wasp Queen.

Settlement Update


  • Half Moon Bay is a new outpost similar to Camp Icarus, located near Corinth Beach Estates. This new arrival area Will Be Used to help ease traffic server During busy periods.

  • An eccentric scientist known as Veyg Crenter is rumored to Be Creating any kind of tameable creatures into his rogue laboratory and releasing them on the Atlantis Archipelago islands south of Port Atlantis, Including some very rare and unusual specimens.

Arkadia Underground Deed Broker Retires

Attention Arkadians,

The time has come for the Arkadia Underground Deed Brokers to bid their farewells.


After 1 year, a total of 525949 minutes standing on one spot with thousands of successful trades, it is time for them to move on. The ACA have decided for them to retire. They will be available for 1 week of trades following today's update and then you will be able to obtain the Arkadia Underground Deeds from the Entropia Universe web store.

Features


  • The Skills interface now displays the total amount of avatar skills, along with totals for each skill category.

  • The appearance of interface dialogs and confirmation boxes has been improved.
  • A new Pet Status interface has been implemented to track pet status and progress.
  • Pets can now be of various rarities, which can be viewed in the Pet Status interface.
  • A new resource called Animal Essence has been implemented that can be obtained by compressing the life energy of a pet. Animal Essence can only be obtained from tamed creatures, and is used to unlock various Taming system abilities and features.
  • The Pet Center management interface now allows Stable owners to select from a variety of pet buffs to offer to customers. Note that the variety and cost of the Pet Center buffs are subject to change in future releases based on balancing requirements.
  • Pets can now unlock passive abilities when certain criteria are met. Each tamable creature type has a different set of unlockable abilities, and only one ability can be activated at a time.


Changes


  • To avoid confusion with similarly-named taming system effects, two existing Mindforce effects have been renamed. ‘Metabolic Acceleration’ now refers to increased pet food consumption. The avatar run-speed buff is now known simply as ‘Acceleration’. ‘Metabolic Deceleration’ now refers to decreased pet food consumption. The avatar run-speed debuff is now known as ‘Deceleration’.
  • Metabolic Acceleration Chip I has been renamed to Acceleration Chip I. Higher level mindforce chips imparting the Acceleration buff have been renamed similarly.
  • Metabolic Inhibition Chip I has been renamed to Deceleration Chip I. Higher level mindforce chips imparting the Deceleration buff have been renamed similarly.
  • Reimplemented several previously existing avatar emotes, including Vain, Feminine, Masculine, Sporty, Happy, Shy, and others.
  • Client launch has been optimized to reduce startup time.
  • Optimizations have been made to reduce load time of items placed in estates.
  • Death effect now only plays once when an avatar dies.
  • The Voice Chat system has been deactivated for technical reasons. A secondary effect of this change is that the maximum team size will now be 12 for all participants.
  • Based on data obtained from several stress tests performed during the past weeks, optimizations to the platform infrastructure have been implemented, with additional improvements which are planned in the coming releases. Thanks to everyone who assisted in these efforts by participating in the stress test events.


Bug Fixes


  • Fixed an issue causing distance to waypoints to flicker while in space.
  • Fixed an issue preventing pets from being summoned after teleporting.

Cyrene Drama - Changes to A.R.C. Rank 1 Missions

There is/was mission at planet Cyrene with reward repairable but untradeable armor with good defense stats. A lot of people went to the planet just to get that armor. Everything was nice and peaceful until Friday 13 of March 2015 when Kris from planet Cyrene posted the preview of the next version update with a lot of cool stuff in it. But people focused only on one thing – The reward for A.R.C. Rank 1 Missions was changed from unlimited and untradeable armor to limited and tradable armor.

“The A.R.C. Initiate Armor is now called Stolen Imperium Armor, this armor was meant to be part of the Imperium Faction but due to some issues this armor was put out incorrectly. This armor will not be changed for any player that already has this armor, however, this armor will not be available at the Rank 1 Stage of A.R.C. once the VU goes live.


In its place will be A.R.C. Inaugurates Armor, a Tradeable and Limited Armor, available for players who are at Rank 1 A.R.C. Faction:”


So people started to threaten that will leave the planet for ever or that will want refund for time and money spent collecting the badges needed for that mission. And there was response which seems good for me, but not for everybody.

“We have in the works for a Rank 3 A.R.C. Faction armor, better stats than the Stolen Imperium Armor, also Non-Tradable, at the next of the faction Tier, but not for rank 1. It should feel special and accomplished and not at the basic level of the faction.

We are aware that this change can be disappointing to players that are close to 200 Badges but not yet there, the Rank 3 Armor should be something that is worth waiting for. The Stolen Imperium Armor was left in as a proof of appreciation to our loyal active players.

And more:

We are working on a way let players who have already started this Rank 1 Faction be able to still get this armor for a limited amount of time. When we have a concrete update as to how this will happen I will post it up in all the relevant threads.

Now this may make new problem. A lot of players can start the mission before the next update and Cyrene team will have larger player base to satisfy.

I am collecting every untradeable item in the game and I will get both of those bound armors sooner or later so I don’t see a reason to get mad about this change. And frankly if you come to the planet just for the armor and hate it when you can’t get it easy I don’t think the planet will miss you much.

Unlocking Extraction Skill

Finally I have unlocked Extraction hidden skill on 15 of March 2015. It only took me 4 years, 4 months and 4 days. May be becouse I am mainly hunter and Sunday miner. Achieved with CryEngine 2, Planet Arkadia, Mining Mania 2015 and Level 10 amp for the final push. The bad news is that for the next unlock I will need even more time. Also I mostly mine unamped, but yesterday I felt good mining with amp and this will be bad for my ped card.

Special Announcement – IFN Orders new armaments to Arkadia

IFN HQ, Celeste Harbour:

With much fanfare, IFN Commodore Harvir today announced a shipment of cutting edge weaponry to be sent to Arkadia. The Scott & Barlow Corporation has been selected to begin shipments effective immediately. The first shipment is expected to arrive at Arkadia in approximately 1 weeks’ time.


Commodore Harvir told the gathered press; ‘I’m very pleased to know that the colonists on Arkadia will have access to a wider range of weaponry to counter the ongoing Oratan threat and increased raids and attacks by the Smugglers”.

Planet Cyrene March 2015 VU Preview

Kris here again with the March 2015 Planet Cyrene VU Preview!

I'd like to start by congratulating all the players that have helped contribute to our Dynamic Upgrades that add perks for playing and being in your favorite Cyrene areas. For this VU we've got 3 areas that have upgraded to level 1:

Great Plains: New Mang Chang and Rhino Beetle Maturities
Mer Beach: Additional Merfolken Gladiator Maturities
Turrelion Desert: Additional Living Vortex Maturities

Here are a few examples:


There are many areas that are not far behind either, Robo Base Z.R.Q. at 85% and Zyn Forest at 90%, well done everyone! (You can view the latest Map here: >>LINK<<)

We also have the start of the new A.R.C. Faction Rank 2 Missions, as well as changes to the Rank 1 Missions:

New A.R.C. Rank 2 Missions:

Five new Crafting Cyrene items or Mining Missions for Cyrene Specific Ores and Enmatters that are only open to players who have over 200 A.R.C. Faction Badges.

Also coming with the Mini Patch will be a new Summoning Mob location near Eve's Playground that will allow players to summon and kill special mobs to earn more A.R.C. Faction Badges (provided that you are already at or over 200 A.R.C Faction Badges).


Changes to A.R.C. Rank 1 Missions:

The A.R.C. Rank 1 Daily missions ended up leaving out newer players to hunt and get in on the faction action, so we made some changes and added 1 new mission: a 500 Sweat Turn-in mission for 1 badge.

The following two daily missions will be changed as follows:

A.R.C. Faction Mission - Stage 1 - Daily - Merfolken Raiders is now Scout Bot Collector XT

This should ensure that new players will be able to start earning faction badges as well.

Changes to the A.R.C. Rank 1 Rewards:

The A.R.C. Initiate Armor is now called Stolen Imperium Armor, this armor was meant to be part of the Imperium Faction but due to some issues this armor was put out incorrectly.I would like to stress that this armor will not be changed for any player that already has this armor, however, this armor will not be available at the Rank 1 Stage of A.R.C. once the VU goes live.

In its place will be A.R.C. Inaugurates Armor, a Tradeable and Limited Armor, available for players who are at Rank 1 A.R.C. Faction:


For Players who are past A.R.C. Rank 1 and closer to Rank 2 (500 A.R.C. Faction Badges), is the A.R.C. Patrol Armor, a Tradeable and Limited Armor, available for Rank 2 A.R.C. Faction:


Also all players that reach Rank 2 will get a special Blueprint from Zorra Winters to craft an A.R.C. Lancer:


There are also approximately 80 new weapons that have been placed on all Cyrene creatures level 1 through 31, BLP Pistol / Rifle, Laser Pistol / Rifle, Short and Long Blades, here are some examples:


We've also been working to improve the Day/Night lighting as well as the water transparency for this VU. We'll be working to make these as good as possible.


There are many other changes coming this VU as well as for the Mini Patch here is a short list:

- Improved summoning for Lazidol and the Empis Wasp Queen (Mini Patch)
- SweetStuff and Force Nexus added to Mining Spawns (VU)
- A n00b Mini Chain to create a Refurbished S.I. Heart (Mini Patch)
- Hit box fixes for Dragon Monkeys and Tide Claws (VU)
- Capsule fixes for Mang Chang, Rhino Beetles, and Paneleons (VU)
- A Mini Sweat Camp with dedicated mob spawns of Jellyworms, Mang Changs, and Paneleons. (VU)
- Topography Changes to many of the high mountains at Mer Beach, Ngu Volcano, and Robot Base Z.R.Q. (Mini Patch)
- Fixes to many typographical and grammatical changes. (VU)
- Various bug fixes. (VU)

Mining mania 2015

Event Description

Entropia Universe is excited to present Mining Mania, a new universe-wide mining event open to all participants on all planets throughout the Universe.

Event Dates

Start: Friday, March 13 2015, 16.00 UTC
End: Monday, March 16 2015, 16.00 UTC

Format & Rewards

The participant who claims a mining loot closest to 150 PED on each of the qualifying resources listed below during the event will receive one of eight Mining Mania Reward Packages containing the following items:
Mining Skill Implant (20 PED)
Level VIII Finder Amplifier ‘Athena’ (L) (208 PED)
1 x Neurobiotic Booster M5 10mg (10 Hours - 50% increased Mining skill gain)

Belkar Stone
Caldorite Stone
Crude Oil
Gazzurdite Stone
Lysterium Stone
Narcanisum Stone
Zinc Stone

Bonus Reward

In addition, the colonist with the highest single mining loot on any of the qualifying resources during the event will receive a Level 7 Finder Amplifier (repairable).

Notes

All of the qualifying resources can be found on all Entropia Universe planets.

Qualifying loots will be determined using internal server logs, which record values to 6 decimal places. Note that in-game global messages only display integer values for loot PED values, and are sometimes rounded.

For the Mining Mania reward packages, there is a limit of one reward per participant. In cases where a single participant achieves a loot closest to 150 PED on more than one of the qualifying resources, the 2nd closest loot to 150 PED will receive the reward. Prizes will be determined in alphabetical order of the qualifying resources.

Planet Arkadia - Oratan Disarmed

Oratan Disarmed!

Last weekend’s Oratan Attack was successfully defended against, and not only that, the defenders even managed to disarm the Oratan!

They managed to take control over a couple of their Laser Crossbows better known as Eron SoulReamer and Eron SoulScreamer. They also managed to recover a couple of Herman weapons that the Oratan must have stolen off IFN personal in the field.


One of them was a very rare Herman XLR Chulan Edition. The defenders also discovered that the Oratan were carrying Smuggler weapons - Herman RAW-505 and RAW-202 (long range laser weapons). Fortunately they were able to reclaim these weapons as well.

Even though it is obvious that these Herman RAW-202 Smuggler and Herman RAW-505 Smuggler weapons are unauthorized by the IFN, the colonists who managed to disarm the Oratan were allowed to keep using these weapons as a personal “thank you” from the IFN for their services during the attack.
