EBN: The Egg Heist

Jermaine Johansson:
“You’re watching Entropia Breaking News. I’m your host, Jermaine Johansson.
Today’s top story: The Egg has been stolen. We go immediately to Treasure Island Castle, where CJ Weave is reporting live from the scene of the crime. CJ?”

CJ Weave: “Thanks, Jermaine. I am here at Treasure Island Castle with Xenobiologist Charles Marvin’s assistant, Dr. Wilson, as the Xenobiologist himself is too distraught to be interviewed. Dr. Wilson, we’ve all seen the shocking footage from the surveillance cameras. What can you tell us? Do you know what has happened to the Egg?”

Dr Wilson: “All we know is that it’s alive, and still on Calypso. The tracking signal is scrambled by some kind of interference, so we can’t pinpoint its exact location.”

Jermaine: “I’m going to have to cut you off there, CJ, as the studio is receiving a call from CDF Eudoria HQ. Hello? To whom am I speaking?”

Yevgeny de Souza: “This is the voice of CDF Ground Forces Commander, Brigadier General Yevgeny de Souza.

The CDF has analyzed the scene of the heist, and the surveillance video. The patterns of the electromagnetic interference in the video, coupled with a single piece of armor found at Treasure Island Castle, has lead us to the conclusion that we are in fact dealing with humanoid robots.”

Jermaine: “RX units?”

Yevgeny de Souza: “…
Do you know of any other kind of humanoid robots?
Calypso’s top virtuologists and robotologists are working day and night to find a way to track down-”

Charles Marvin: “Wilson, tell them about the incubator!”

Dr Wilson: “Uh... Yes, professor... When the thieves took the Egg, they broke the incubator holding it. The Egg must be retrieved, but if we don’t repair the incubator or make a new one, the Egg will still die.”

Charles Marvin: “You have to help us, commander! This is your fault! Remember what the governor said!”

Jermaine Johansson: “Are you still with us, commander?”

Yevgeny de Souza: “… Let’s talk about this in private, professor.”

Charles Marvin: “You must allocate manpower to get us the incubator parts! The Egg must be of even greater importance than we could have imagined. You must not let it die, commander!”

Yevgeny de Souza: “We don’t HAVE the manpower. We are already wasting resources by looking for the damn Egg. Calypso is facing an invasion of unprecedented scale, and you want me to-
….
Yes, sir. Understood. Will do.
...
Right. As the CDF can not spare the manpower to secure the incubator parts, the governor calls on all able-bodied colonists to help find them. Any colonists who hands in an incubator part will be rewarded by the CDF. The location at which the incubator parts can be handed in will be disclosed in the coming days.

Among the rewards will be... various armor parts that were reverse engineered by the CDF from the single piece of RX armor left behind at Treasure Island. The complete list of rewards will follow after this broadcast.”

CJ Weave: “Professor, how does one find an incubator part?”

Charles Marvin: “Incubator parts can be found when hunting, mining, or crafting. So manufacture one, dig one out of the ground, or kill someone or something and take theirs! It doesn’t matter, just get us the incubator parts!”

Yevgeny de Souza: “May I PLEASE finish now?
I have a war to win.

Experts are trying to figure out a way to find the RX, and the Egg. We don’t yet know why the RX broke the truce, nor why they are collaborating with the robots. Colonists are urged to remain vigilant, as the RX could be hiding among us. Any suspicious behavior should be reported to the CDF.
End transmission.”

Jermaine: “Well, there you have it, folks. Interesting stuff. Wouldn’t mind getting my hands on some of that RX armor myself. You’re probably going to attract a lot of accidental blue on blue in it though... !But you probably wouldn’t even notice it if you’re wearing that armor. Wow! Happy hunting!”

True Colours of a RESELLER come Bank Manager

I thought I'd pop buy Tzepu new bank at Fort Argus and see what really was on offer to the community.

All I see by taking loans from this bank is extremely high weighted risk heavily in favour of the bank. Considering we have a reseller that has been very successful at convincing the community his valuation are spot-on over the years, it's quite ironic that he sets a completely new sub-standard loan to value calculations against YOUR items as his collateral.

I would agree that you would need to mitigate a "reasonable" risk when loaning funds, and undervalue core items so ensure you cover falls in market prices, but we have to ask oursleves so these valuation hold any morality? I think not.

So.....

1) Are these loan values, Tzepu true estimate of what he believes items are worth? If so looks like we are going to see some big drops in prices.

2) Or does he have a box of tissues beside his desk, watching the clock tick down and getting very exciting about his new items? In other words is the purpose of the bank to loan to the community, or is it a colourful way of dressing up the hope of obtaining items at grossly undervalue to then resell at a massive profit?

It's likely Tzepu will defend his position stating that due to current available funds, he is attempting to offer as many loans as possible with those funds, and hopes to adjust valuations when more funds are available. Well in that case I suggest the community considers the massive risk to their items taking such loans right now should they fail to repay within the 30 days.

Not content with severe undervaluation, we also have a 50% loan interest rate. Anyone think that is reasonable considering the bank isn't taking any real risks?

So lets take a mod fap. Tzepu thinks this is only worth 80K peds (not 140K - 170K that these resellers will happily try and sell it at). Iif you loaned it for a year your interest bill would be 40K peds. However loans are valued on 30 days so 40K/12 = 3,333.33 peds interest for the month (or approx 110 peds per day)

Here's a pic of some chips and the offers available. Kind of funny that Tzepu sold an X corr the other day for over 6K peds (originally valuing it at 10K), yet on his bank system he has valued them at 1K peds.

So for those that don't understand it the item owner borrowing a loan is not only incurring a rate of 50% APR, but they are also putting thier items at massive risk of loss.

So why all the gratz for this bank opening? To me this is clearing about maximising opportunity, putting all the cards in favour of the bank hoping theres some cool items to claim from unfortunate players that run into financial difficulties.

In my opinion I suggest the community stay well clear, until the bank reconsideres its position on APR and valuations.

I think a reseller is the wrong person to run such a venture. I do not feel any positives for the community with this at all.

Feel free to suck up the banker/reseller though hey they been telling you the truth for years to line their own pockets. Or use your own head and think about it.

EBN: Incident at Treasure Island

Jermaine Johansson:
“We interrupt tonight’s broadcast of Knee deep in twisted metal - Life in the CDF to bring you these breaking news.

Just hours ago, an incident at Treasure Island Castle was caught by surveillance cameras. EBN has received a copy of the tape. Let’s watch.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNzET0Onnsg&feature=youtu.be

EBN is trying to reach Brigadier General de Souza and Xenobiologist Charles Marvin for comments. We will keep our viewers updated as more information comes in. Any tips from the public are welcome.

Knee deep in twisted metal will continue after these messages from our sponsor, the Genesis Star corporation.”

The unthinkable idea of Peezle Peez McPee

Peezle Peez McPee:

What if we did the unthinkable?

OK, I am treading on thin soil here, between progress and destruction.

So, nothing new for me in life, so I will venture to talk.

Now we have owners and mods and other people who oppose change. That's OK. I understand their fears but also ask here for them to suspend their judgment for a few minutes until I am done.

Now I love EU like many of you all and I don't claim to be better skilled, coined, or educated than any of you. But I usually am for most

This said, how about - hold this thought for a moment - we try to get control over the game we love?

Oh no, what the fuck is this guy on about? I am happy losing steadily and unfairly, so leave me to my fantasies.

I have fantasies too, but they are generally in the realm of realities. Such as:

#1 Given the amount of peds we load into this game, why is it such a crazy idea to pool those peds?

#2 Given our purchasing power of a group of gamers with ideas and talents and skills, why is it so mad that WE take this deal into our own hands.

#3 Given Mr MindArk loves money, we would give him all he needs or wants, and everyone could be happy.

#4 Given we have ourselves ( or people we can phone up ) skills that can turn this thing into the thing we always wanted it to be, why not try?

#5 Nobody loses. Not even those rich guys.

#6 *Fill the blank*

Just asking. I see it as a very real possibility, since we already spend each month enough to buy this foolish thing and, wait. AND, decide how it works and grows.

Fort Argus Bank is open for business!

Tzepelea Tzepu Geri: I'm proud and happy to announce that Fort Argus Bank is once again operational!

As you enter the main room of the bank, the Bank Teller can be found to the right!
He’s an angel so he’s hard to miss and he’ll play nice.

Unfortunately the bank building is a little bugged here and there and I'm waiting for Mindark to fix it so it can be used at its full potential. Until then I can't place items on the main floor of the building and I can't make it look more welcoming.

The yearly loan % and loan duration will be adjusted depending on demand and the amount of funds I have available.

Additional bank services are being worked on.
With some help from Mindark I hope it will become more than a pawnshop in the future.

Short rundown on how it works

You can take a ped loan for any item ingame using that item as collateral. As standard all the stackable items have 90% of TT as loan value and all the other items have 90% of full TT as loan value. Because of that some of the really high TT items will show quite a lot - loan value, not good but that's how it works atm.

The bank teller can take a few seconds to load all the item list so be patient. Use the item search or just look at specific item categories for a smoother experience.

I've added higher loan values for most of the good UL items and will constantly work on improving that list.

If you're planning to take out a loan on an expensive item and you see the bank still offers the standard 90% contact me ingame or here by PM and I will try to adjust it.

After taking a loan the item goes in the bank vault and you get a Loan Deed detailing loan amount and loan expiration date. The loan deeds are tradable.

The interest you see in the bank is yearly. To see the interest for your loan term devide the yearly % with the period of the loan. Atm it's 30 days loan period so /12. The interest on the loan is calculated daily so you only pay for what u use.

When you want to repay a loan (you can do it anyday of the loan period) trade the Bank Teller to see the amount needed to pay back.

If you fail to pay it back in time the Loan Deed expires (same as a mining deed), gets removed and the item remains in the possession of the bank.

How yearly interest works

At the moment the bank has 50% yearly interest. The current loan term is 30 days. Both these numbers might change in the future. Any change won't affect any loan taken before the change and just future loans.

As it is now 50%/year means
50/12 so 4.16%/month
50/365 so 0.137%/day

If you loan 1k peds for the full 30 days you will have to pay back 41.6 ped interests so 1041.6 ped
If you pay back the same loan after 1 day you will pay only 1.37ped interest, 1001.37ped

How loan values are set

This business is a bank or pawnshop as many like to call it now. It is not an item buying shop like some are mislead to believe.
I will work in improving the loan values for items as time permits. The process is slow and time consuming.

The values I have set are not what I think those items are worth.

I do not want to expose myself to a high risk of getting the bank filled with items that will be left there to expire on purpose. This has happened many many times in the past to other banks and that's why some of them are out of business now.
On the top items like imp and mod faps the values set are lower to make it possible to use them for loans. If I would set close to real value the bank would probably never have enough free peds for a loan to be taken.

Need to take a big loan?

If you want to take a big loan all you have to do is contact me and we will work it out.
It's possible to reserve peds for a loan, to be sure the bank will have the desired amount of peds on a certain date.
Work on loan ammount for items, make it higher or lower depending on the exact amount you need.
Work on loan term, if you are not sure when you can pay it back a longer loan period can be set.

EBN: Update on the Invasion

Jermaine Johansson: “You’re watching Entropia Breaking News. I’m your host, Jermaine Johansson.

Why did the robots attack Treasure Island? Did the RX know about the “Vanguard”? What role, if any, does the Egg play in the robot invasion?

Tonight, CDF Ground Forces Commander, Brigadier General Yevgeny de Souza, joins us to answer these questions and more.

Commander, about the invasion - how are we doing?”

Yevgeny de Souza: “‘We’ are holding fast, but just barely. The efforts of volunteer colonists have bought us some time to mobilize reserves and recall forces from expeditionary missions to fight the invasion. Also, the forces and assets that were moved to Amethera after the attack on Treasure Island will be moved back to Eudoria.

Jermaine: “What about Treasure Island? What about the Egg? This whole thing started with an attack on Treasure Island.”

Yevgeny: “The robots have shown no interest in Treasure Island, or any other part of Amethera, since the main invasion began. Our theory is that the attack on Treasure Island was simply a feint, intended to force us to move forces to Amethera, thus weakening our positions on Eudoria.”

Jermaine: “Some high profile colonists insist that the robots are here to destroy the Egg. What do you say to those people?”

Yevgeny: “… As I’ve told the Xenobiologist on numerous occasions, the Egg was only worth protecting because the robots appeared to show an interest in it. As they no longer show an interest the Egg, there is no longer any reason to protect it.

Look - we have never faced an invasion like this before. The very survival of our colony is at stake. The idea that we would set aside vital assets to protect an egg, when every man and woman is needed to fight the invasion, is ludicrous.”

Jermaine: “Speaking of the Egg, an incident at Treasure Island involving a CDF soldier and the Egg was caught on tape by EBN crew.

The RX tell a CDF soldier about a new robot weapon - days later, the Vanguard appears. Were the RX trying to warn us? To help us?”

Yevgeny: “First of all, we have no reason to actually believe that the soldier in that video was in contact with the RX. It’s not like the robots introducing a new unit during an invasion is unheard of. Anyone could have guessed that. The soldier is currently undergoing a full psychiatric evaluation.

Secondly, if the RX were in contact with the soldier in question, they also convinced, blackmailed or brainwashed him to destroy the Egg. The RX may be neutral, but they are still robots. We’ll deal with them after we’ve dealt with the invasion.”

Jermaine: “… Alright, thank you.. Anything you would like to say to our viewers?”

Yevgeny: “Yes. Recalling troops from Amethera and mobilizing reserves will only do so much. We still need all the help we can get. Colonists who want to volunteer should check the CDF bulletin and contact CDF personnel for more information.”

Jermaine: “Thanks for joining us, Commander.

!Up next: A special on the Vanguard, titled “Fancy footwork - How to survive an encounter with a Vanguard”, right after these messages from our sponsor, the Chikara corporation.”

TRADERS! A misconception!

There has been an issue that has been bothering me since i signed up here at entropia and i must say more specificly arkadia and thought it needed discusing....

As a trader myself im growing a little tired of the bad name traders get here at Entropia for a number of reasons, but the main reason is that this misconception of the trader is slowing down the economy especialy here on arkadia and this misunderstand is spreading like wild fire right now, there isnt a session now that i dont see someone talking complete trash about traders and how they are ripping people off, so basicly im here to open a discussion on this subject and hopefully change the way that traders are looked upon.....

The Root of the problem IMO starts with the fact we are dealing with a real money economy here in EU, this strait away instills a sence of "That guy just robbed me of x amount of cents".... so let me clear this up right now with the fact that 999999999.99% of EU avatars WILL LOOSE in EU, it has to work this way for EU to exist and fund the development of EU.

Everyday day we all log in all the miner's and hunters except that you can drop X amout of ped and the loose on the return thats just life here and has to be exepted by the population, Those that dont exept this play for a while and leave bitching, so we will just assume that we all except this fact ...

The Second thing is UNDERSTANDING MU!!!!, this is the part that really chaps my ass, the number of people i see in this game that 1. go on DAILY MU .. 2. think that they should/can get that value for there items. so let me explain in the hope we can clear this up....

1. DAILY MU

This isnt a very precise way to look at the MU value on most items, simply because the stats for the D/MU could be pulled from 1 person buying the item at higher OR lower than the average MU, this is more-so on items that are not sold in the 1000s, its just like a football players stats.... if player 1.. has played 2 games and scored once his score % is 50% does that make him better or worse than player 2... who has played 100 games and scored 48 times??? the answer is neither!!!! because there simply isnt enough data on the first player to get a clear picture, player 1.. could go on to be a superstar and have a scrore % of 98% or he could be the biggest donkey to hit the field 50 years WE JUST DONT KNOW!! because the data isnt there.. and the same applies here...

Its mutch better to look at the weekly as there is a lot more data there to give a clear picture, if the daily MU has lots of data 9x outa 10 you will notice its pretty much the same as the weekly give a nats fart here and there, so please dont always go by the D/MU its just not detailed enough and its only YOU that will loose out on it so do yourself a favour and use weekly MU stats to get a better picture of the market value....

2.Whats it Really worth?

This is where it gets interesting, please bear in mind that we are talking stackables here, singular items run at a slightly different basis, so we are taliking your lootable stackables ores/skins EnMatters that kinda stuff...

99999.99% of the data that you get from MU is that item sold in BULK quantities, meaning that people are paying at auction around this figure... so when you come back of your mining trip and you have 30 kaz please dont think that its worth top MU or if anyone offers to buy it from you that you can expect that %, this is where people need to really understand the idea of the complex economy here in EU....

The MU of any stackable is after auction fees witch are added to the sellers price most of the time and as i say 999999.99% in bulk (in 1000s)... now your 30 kaz is not worth the MU shown IN THOSE QUANTITIES.... the only way your going to get anywere near that is if your lucky enough to know a crafter who will keep meeting with you and buying your 30 kaz and other loot but even he wont want to pay top MU as he can just go to auction and buy in the quantites he needs (we are talking thousands here) at possibly a better MU its just not worth the hassle keep mucking around buying your bits at FULL MU.... he may as well go to auction buy what he needs or put up an order, as he isnt always crafting with the same mats, so unless he has ped to burn your out of luck.... now im not saying these relationships dont exist because they do but there very VERY rare and its not simply walk up to him and sell your loot at full MU...

Now im not saying you cannot get your top wack MU, but if you do want that % or anywhere close to it then you better invest some ped so you can fund your hunting/mining runs and build on those stacks untill you get a decent stack size (500 min *refined) and put it through auction yourself footing the auction fees and sale price % at auction, its a prety simple concept...

But all is not lost you can list your 30 kaz on auction AS IS!!! thats right folks and ive get even better news its normaly runs at at a mutch higher % in smaller numbers grate huh? well not when you talking about selling a couple of ped worth of stackables and your have a 0.5 ped charge for listing it AND the chances of you selling that small amount is a LOT lower than selling it in large quantities at the going MU, this is for the same reason your very lucky to find a crafter to buy your bits on the street..... why would he buy lots of small amounts at a hiked MU??? there are only very few circumstances this will happen I.E hes just finishing off a run of a given BP and needs justa small amount of a given mat.... thats it! no other reason... so by all means list your small amounts of loot and sit there for a week with no mining/hunting because your waiting for ll that juicy ped to come in from top MU only to find out you havent sold a bean but you got a nice 0.5 ped auction charge....

THE TRADER (THE EVIL ONE!!!)

Yes the trader.... the Theif... the rip off merchent.... the guy who laughs in your face while he STEALS your hard earned ped...

first of all we need to place the trader... where does he sit in the economy?

Miners/Hunters
|
|
Traders
|
|
Crafters/Tailers

Again if you are able to fund your hunting/mining and are in a possition to accumalate large stacks then auction it off your self or find a crafter and sell directly to him, IM TELLING YOU this is the best way and im a trader! you will make more ped but depending on the terms of the relationship you may still be stuck with other types of loot as it depends what mats the crafter is looking to buy... if you get a crafter who is willing to buy ALL at a couple of % bellow MU you look after him lke your own child! as buisness relationships like this are very hard to come by, But for most of us here in EU we need to turn our ped around quickly and do what you come to EU to do, mining/hunting what ever... so lets recap on our options

1. deposit a decent lump of RL cash into EU to fund about a weeks worth of mining/hunting and sell your loot at auction at the full MU (and be prepared to wait a few days for it to sell also)

2. List your small stacks on auction, wait several days and hope they sell @ hiked MU or your left with a 0.5 ped auction charge for non sale...

3. list your small stacks on auction at averge MU and loose out bigtime with auction fees (0.5 ped is a lot out of 4 ped worth of mat)

4. Find a crafter who will buy all you loot (buying only given items is no good a few ped here and there wont fund your next mining trip...

5. Sell it to the trade terminal

6. OMG Sell to a trader (cue evil music).....

So why a trader?

1. A trader will give you a % of the MU on your loot...
2. he will buy ALL your loot not just what he needs
3. No waiting about you drop your loot cycle your peds and your off mining/hunting again

Now this is where people get all hot and bothered...... "this item is worth this % and your offering me this %" well read above again and go get your top MU i have NOOOOOOOOOOO problem with that infact i even advise it, but if your not willing to any of the above please stop bitching that traders are ripping you off...

people need to understand that MOST traders provide a service. they are NOT i repeat NOT!!! just cheaky ass avatars who want to rip you a new one so they dont have to pay the going MU....

So given our options above selling to a trader is by far the best option... but people just carnt get there heads around selling there stuff to another human for less than the % they see in the window, and some would rather TT there stuff than sell it to a trader... all this does is HIKE prices and hold back the economy, its called cutting of your own nose to spite your face... its stupid... your costing yourself ped by loosing at the TT and costing yourself further down the economical road by hiking prices.... its moronic!....

people are under this anal idea that a TRADER... look at the name here "TRADER" should buy in at MU .... what planet are some of you off? but thats just the one side of our trade... what about selling our large stacks of stuff?...

well by the time we have refined the stacks and put it though auction with auction fees and auction fees on sale price the profit isnt really anything to run around screaming about trust me... but then we can always sell to crafters or street sales right? correct... but let me tell you a little story that puts ALLLLLLL this into percpective.....

the other day a guy came up to me asking if i had a specifc ingots to sell.... now these ingots i had ear marked for another customer who buys specific ingots from me once a week, but knowing i had a few days grace before he would be contacting me i thought i would sell these on now, knowing i could replace them for my regular customer... so i went in with my price which was slightly under the MU.... and do you know what the guy said????? your going to like this....

"But thats MU/Auction Price, normally when i deal with traders they are a few % under MU"

Now i actualy agree with the guy.. i just went in high as i had the ingots ear marked and for me to sell em now i wanted a better price, but yea i agree with him.... so why in gods name does everyone want me or all traders to BUY @ MU but sell UNDER MU......after refining the damn stuff ?!?!?!?!?!?!

so what you are all saying is what a trader should be is this.......

1.depo large amounts of cash....
2.buy your bits and bobs @ DAILY MU ..... ohh and a tip ofcorse
3.refine it
4.stockpile this stuff for weeks
5.sell it BELLOW MU

im sorry but this is moronic... and im growing somewhat tired of traders being looked upon as thieves basicly......

i agree there are some traders out there who offer silly % or just go for the highly valuable stackables.... well let me give you a few tips....

if ANYONE is asking for a specific item its worth more.... end of story...

say trader 1. will buy all your goods but trader 2 is only after a few of those goods you need to be asking a higher price from trader 2... as he's only after specified items.. a REAL trader will buy everything within his area of trade.... I.E mining loot/hunting loot... its only common sence......

the other thing is if a trader offers you silly % say 105% on a 150% item then you know what? dont trade with him lol its quite simple... traders make there living off reputation, traders with a reputation of of that kind wont be trading for long because everyone will just go somewhere else.... just because there is a trader there doesnt mean you MUST trade with him... its a choice! take it ot leave it, if your getting ripped off there is only one person to blame....... YOU!!!...

at the end of the day. traders are a VITAL part of the economy and drives prices down within the economy.... being a hard faced idiot who simply refuses to sell there items at bellow MU because they dont understand how MU works and what the real worth of somthing is destroy the economy and hold back the game and more importantly ARKADIA ATM witch is by far the best planet IMO....

so please people.... please.... understand that traders are not cheaky little so and so's who want to rip you off we do provide and service and a vital one at that.... without us crafters cannot do there thing at a affordable price and no crafters means your loot is worth NOTHING BUT TT VALUE.....

its up to you folks....

Skilling On A Mothership

Spent alot of time skilling on Motherships(MS), like to help people to do the same. Roughly, one gets over 60 ped in skills from each used Rk. I would require it of any disciple, and recommend it for any crafter. Here is the basic info anyone who wants to begin getting skill on a Mothership needs.

YOU NEED TO HAVE SPACE DOWNLOADED!!!!
open ur map, at the top it says Calypso, open this by pressing the arrow to the right. If you do not see SPACE with a green check, you do not have it yet. Get it!

Do not go into space with anything in your MINED or MATERIALS tab. Press the COMPACT button on the bottom right next to the hand to make sure nothing is "hiding" in these tabs.

To get on the Mothership, get added to the guestlist. You need to find someone who knows someone that can add you, just listen for the word WARP, and sure bet, they can get you on a repair crew. Some MS's are free to repair, some you have to buy acess. Once added, you can be summoned straight to the ship, or fly up to the Space Station(SS) and board at the TP. If you fly up, piracy is not a concern, because you go directly from the planet to the parking area around the space station, it is not lootable.

Once there, you can pay if it is a service, or make a donation if it is free. You will be asked, but even if you are not, offer. You will see bars on the screen representing the repair points and their health levels. Smaller ships have two facing points, the Propulsion(PP) and Reactor(RR). Large ships also have a Command Center(CC) and Hanger(HH). On a MS, you can repair when it is not broken. This is called 0.0 repair. You MUST ask before you do, and wait for an answer. If you repair the wrong thing at the wrong time, you will break the 0.0 and no one will be able to skill. This is very important! Look to where others are skilling, and repair there. Not too close now, if you go afk on the wrong point, leave space so another avatar can get bodily between you and the repair point, and block you. Stop repairing if asked to stop.

The mother ship is most likely not yours. Pay your way if you can, dont mess things up, and overall, Be Cool To Each Other! We are a very helpful and close group in general, with a few pita's thrown in for balance, so skill up and be very grateful! I am writing this because I am very grateful, and I want YOU to have the same great expierience.

If you check back in and you stopped repairing, it could be a few things. Someone repaired the wrong repair point and shut 0.0 down, you crossed a server border, your rk broke, you are out of wire, or you warped. Dont worry. Check your rk and for wire, and if they are fine, ask what to repair. The ship has a channel for talking it is called force chat, use that for all in ship communications. Hint:If you want to chat to other players while you repair, turn off the white(other messages) and green(skill messages) channels so the repair and skill messages dont clutter up your chat.

One RK-5 Vehicle Repair Tool uses 51k Welding Wire in about 3.5 hours. A rk should be about 11 ped and Welding Wire about 190%, buying in bulk or being lucky and persistant on auction or with other players trading can bring this cost down. Some players and ships offer them on ship.

EBN: Attack repelled

Interview with CDF Ground Forces Commander at Treasure Island Castle

Jermaine the Anchorman: “You’re watching Entropia Breaking News. I’m your host, Jermaine Johansson.

A robot attack on Treasure Island, just days after Xenobiologist Charles Marvin announced the plan to hatch the Egg. We go immediately to Treasure Island Castle, where our reporter CJ Weave is joined by CDF Ground Forces Commander Yevgeny de Souza and Xenobiologist Charles Marvin.”

CJ Weave: “Thanks, Jermaine. Commander, a robot attack on Calypso soil, and the CDF was nowhere to be seen. What went wrong?”

Brigadier General Yevgeny de Souza: “First of all, we would like to thank the colonists who risked life and limb to repel the attack. That being said, it was simply the case of many small unfortunate events accumulating, resulting in the CDF arriving after the fighting was over. The CDF will review its protocols to make sure that nothing like this ever happens again. We don’t yet know why the robots attacked Treasure Island, of all places, but-

Xenobiologist Charles Marvin: “May I interject, commander? Thank you. It is painfully obvious that the robots want to destroy the Egg! How can you not see that? The Egg must be even more important than we originally thought. Commander, you MUST help us move the Egg to a safer location on Eudoria.”

Yevgeny de Souza: “That won’t be necessary, professor. Like I said: we don’t yet know why the robots attacked Treasure Island Castle. CDF operatives are investigating this as we speak. In the meantime, significant CDF assets will be relocated so as to ensure a quicker response to any future attacks on Treasure Island, or any other part of Ameth... era... Hey, what the hell is going on over there?!”

CDF soldier 1: “Let go of me! You don’t know what you’re doing! Listen to me, THE RX TOLD-”

CDF soldier 2: “Sir! We found Private Duplantier wiring explosives to the Egg incubator. He kept babbling about the RX units and some new weapon that the robots-”

Yevgeny de Souza: “Shut your mouth, corporal. You, cut the feed. NOW!”

Jermaine: ”CJ?

It appears that we have, once again, lost the feed from Treasure Island Castle.

Uhm...

Enjoy these messages from our sponsor, the Omegaton corporation.”

Multiple warships of unknown origin have entered Calypso’s atmosphere

EBN: Status Update from Treasure Island

Jermaine: “You’re watching Entropia Breaking News. I’m your host, Jermaine Johansson.

Tonight’s top story:

“The federal empire - omniscient, omnipresent, benevolent and just sustainer and protector of mankind“.

But first, we’ll take you to Treasure Island Castle, where our reporter, CJ Weave, has an update on the effort to hatch the Egg. CJ?”

CJ: Thanks, Jermaine. Charles Marvin and his team have started the procedure that they say will finally reveal the contents of the fabled Egg. The team of scientists says-

Brigadier General Yevgeny de Souza: “This is CDF Ground Forces Commander Yevgeny de Souza, transmitting on all frequencies.

Multiple warships of unknown origin have entered Calypso’s atmosphere. The fleet is currently over north-west Amethera, heading south-east at high speed. All civilians are urged to stay calm and keep clear; the CDF will intercept the vessels before they reach any major population centers. End transmission.”

Jermaine: ”Uh... Okay. Back over to CJ. CJ?”

CJ Weave: “Thanks, Jermaine. Like I said, Charles Marvin and his team have initiated the procedure that they say will finally reveal the contents of the Egg. The team of scientists says that the Egg still needs to be incubated a while longer, but it’s merely a question of time before it hatches.

I will be reporting to you from Treasure Island until... until....”

Jermaine: “CJ? What’s all that commotion? Is the Egg hatching?”

CJ Weave: “No, it’s - we’re being attacked! Please, send he-”

Jermaine: “CJ? CJ!

Well, folks, it appears we have lost the feed. Uh... Enjoy these messages from our sponsor, the Genesis Star corporation, while our technicians work on getting the feed back up.”!

The Egg will hatch

EBN: Egg-citing news out of Treasure Island - and that’s no yolk!

Jermaine the Anchorman: “You’re watching Entropia Breaking News. I’m your host, Jermaine Johansson.

Today’s top story:

A major announcement coming out of Treasure Island. We go now to our reporter, CJ Weave, who is reporting live from Treasure Island Castle. CJ?”

CJ Weave: “Thanks, Jermaine.

'Aaaah, The Egg...' A standing joke among Calypsians, ever since entrepreneur-colonist Zachurm “Deathifier” Emegen bought the petrified ovum for a fantastical amount of PED. Now, scientists say, we might finally get to hear the punchline.

The Egg will hatch - if everything goes as planned, that is.

We are joined now by renowned Xenobiologist Charles Marvin, who is leading the project to hatch the Egg.

“Charles, how exactly do you plan on hatching the Egg?”

Xenobiologist Charles Marvin: “It’s simple, really. The Egg was extracted from the carcass of the Atrox Queen - it was never brought to term. We intend to ‘tell’ the Egg that it’s time to hatch, by subjecting it to a cocktail of hormones... Atrox and otherwise.”

CJ Weave: “What exactly do you hope to accomplish by hatching the Egg?”

Xenobiologist Charles Marvin: “Knowledge. The Egg is a xenobiological anomaly. It will remain a missing link in our understanding of this world we call Calypso until it hatches.

And who knows what we could learn from whatever hides within the egg?”

CJ Weave: “Charles, it’s an Atrox Queen egg; would it not be safe to assume that it contains an atrox?”

Xenobiologist Charles Marvin: Well... Uhm... Good point. Hmm... It’s actually a green Atrox Queen egg, so...”

CJ Weave: Thank you, professor. For EBN News, I’m CJ Weave. Back to you at the station.

Jermaine: “Well, there you have it, folks. A new chapter in Calypso’s history, or the world’s most expensive omelet? I personally can’t wait to find out. Stay tuned.”

Moon Estate FAQ

Q: If I deposit funds and bid on the moon auction, will MindArk forego the withdrawal fee for unsuccessful bidders?
A: Yes. The withdrawal fee will be waived for all participants who make an individual deposit of at least $25,000 between March 1 and April 4, 2013. The withdrawal fee waiver will apply to an amount equal to the total deposit amount made during the fee waiver period.

Q: What about deposit fees?
A: MindArk recommends that parties interested in making large deposits into Entropia Universe use the bank transfer deposit method. The only fees associated with this deposit method are those charged by your own financial institution; MindArk charges no fee for deposits made via bank transfer.

Q: When is the moon estate expected to be released?
A: After the auction is completed, MindArk will contact the Moon Operator to discuss overall design aspects of the moon estate. Depending on the specific details from that discussion, the moon estate is expected to be released late in Q2 or in Q3 of 2013.

Q: Will it be possible to add additional features and/or expand the moon estate?
A: Yes. Further development of the moon estate beyond the initial specification is indeed possible, and can be proposed to the MindArk team once the auction is completed. Note that any such added features will be subject to MindArk approval, as well as additional development costs.

Q: Can the Moon Operator use its own team to develop the moon estate?
A: No. All initial and future development will be performed by MindArk.

Q: Will the Moon Operator be required to sign any agreements or documents?
A: Yes. The person holding the account of the Moon Operator will be required to sign MindArk’s standard Marketing Partner Agreement, the Moon Operator Agreement, and a Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Q: How will revenue from the moon estate and marketing partnership be paid?
A: Revenue will be paid out monthly to the moon estate deed holder.

Q: Are the revenue share percentages negotiable?
A: No.

Q: Can the Moon Operator sell shares or deeds?
A: There will be a single deed for the moon estate. Group ownership or further revenue sharing will not be supported.

Q: Is the moon part of Calypso or any other Planet Partner?
A: No, the moon is its own territory, just as other planets.

Q: Where is the moon be located?
A: A mysterious wormhole was recently discovered in local space. Exploration of the other side of the wormhole revealed a strange, planetless moon. A space station is under construction that will stabilize the wormhole and allow travel between local space and the region of space on the other side of the wormhole, where the moon was discovered.

Q: Will there be a teleporter to or from the moon?
A: All access to and from the moon will be made via the wormhole space station, which will allow avatars to enter the wormhole, transporting them directly to the Lunar Command Center.

Q: Will the subsurface cavern areas have hunting and mining taxes?
A: There will be no hunting or mining taxes on the moon estate.

Q: How large will the subsurface caverns be?
A: Approximately 1.5 times the size of the asteroid space resort domes.

Q: How will mining work in the subsurface caverns?
A: The caverns will use the indoor mining logic system, which results in a lower search radius and larger finds.

Q: What size will the apartments be, and how many item points will they have?
A: Apartments will be medium-sized compared to existing apartments in Entropia, and will feature 150 item points.

Q: Will the moon creatures have their own loot items?
A: The loot from moon creatures will be a mixture of familiar items and resources and completely new items. Those new resources will be used for manufacturing other new items unique to the moon.

Planet Cyrene March 2013 Version Update Preview

Here is a message from Kris, the lead designer of Planet Cyrene about the upcomming version update.

Greetings!

It's me, Kris, I'm the lead designer of Planet Cyrene (/wave). Admin (Peter) contacted me a couple weeks ago and asked me if I could share some info about the upcoming March VU for Planet Cyrene, so without further ado...the info!

There are some major things happening in this VU, one of the biggest (and first of it's kind of change on Cyrene) is the first dynamic upgrade has been unlocked! Players have helped Requisions Officer Wilco and the Lt. Johnson (as well as killing creatures in the nearby area) enough to warrant an improvement. Not only has the base been fortified and given that terminal upgrade it desperately needed! Not to mention that new missions have been unlocked to help further additional skill increases for all players.
I'd like to point out that some people have asked, “Which areas are dynamic and which aren't?” and there isn't an area that is not dynamic, it is based on what the players do as far as hunting, questing, and playing in general. If we see one area continue to be neglected, then those monsters may migrate somewhere else or even evolve and become more difficult and over run more land. If nobody visits a certain base, that base may become over run or become rundown. The players will shape the layout of Cyrene based on their interests.

The next major update in the VU is the fact that a major storyline character as been added: Zora Winters, the people who have read any of the MS9 Cyrene Adventures will recognize this character as the leader of A.R.C. She'll start you on the first part of the “Epic Quest” to win the favor of the Zyn'Kimbro tribe to help A.R.C. fight back against the Imperium. She's in the A.R.C. Head Quarters next to her custom Fenris Armor. It won't be easy to win over the Zyn'Kimbro, and you'll need more than their help to stand a chance against the Imperium.
Another thing coming in this VU is a new set of component blueprints from the Trade Terminal. These blueprints use the very basic materials from Cyrene: Lysterium Stone, Crude Oil, Yellow Crystal, and Zorn Star Ore. Crafted in different ways into Imperium Cube Components 1 – 5, these cubes are then refined into 1 Imperium Cube.

Players can then take 3 Imperium Cubes and some Imperium Tokens to create an Imperium Key Cube. The Imperium Key Cube is used in many different things: from part of the epic quest chain, to an unreleased Cyrene instance and future quests! The idea behind these components is to give new players and miners something they can get easily which is needed by higher level players for many different things.
The last thing I'll touch on is in this VU we've rebalanced the majority of blueprints and increased the size and density of the mining areas. We know that economy is huge part of Entropia Universe and we're trying to get ours up to speed. We are still actively tweaking the loot lists as well trying to get the right balance (with help from our partners at MindArk). Not to mention squishing any bugs that come up and addressing problems and complaints from the community. (Insert shameless plug for CyreneForum bug report thread here).

I hope this shines some light on Cyrene and and gets people excited for the next VU for Cyrene! If there is interest enough for me to come and share current development of Cyrene again I'd be more than happy to.

Cheers!
